Equality Objectives

It is against the law to discriminate against anyone because of:

  • age
  • being or becoming a transsexual person
  • being married or in a civil partnership
  • being pregnant or on maternity leave
  • disability
  • race including colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin
  • religion, belief or lack of religion/belief
  • sex
  • sexual orientation

These are called ‘protected characteristics’.

The Kaizen Equalities Objectives for 2020/21 are:

  • Objective 1:
    To continue to monitor and analyse pupil achievement and progress by key ethnicity groups, gender and SEND and act upon any trends or patterns in this data that require additional support for pupiuls. (Assessmet data acros thr year forms part of our future planning in terms of staffing and resourcing for key groups).
  • Objective 2:
    To continue to promote spiritual, moral, social and cultural development through all appropriate curricular opputunities, with particular reference to issues of equality and diversity. To ensure new DfE guidelines for the RSHE curriculum are implemented sensitively.
  • Objective 3:
    To ensure that our staff represent the communities that we serve and that all colleagues have development and leadership opportunities, regardless of which protected groups they are from. Linking in with  Eko Trust priorites this year with regard to ensuring our work on equal opportunities - including race is impactful and addresses challenges that prevent our children, young people and our staff from achieving.

Kaizen Primary School publishes its Equality Objectives on a four year cycle in line with the Eko Trust Equalities policy
